Get Rewards and Cash Back Without Using a Credit Card
I’ve been hearing “it’s cute that you tell us to have discipline, but I’m going to spend this holiday season.” I’ve also heard “I have the money to spend, but I still want to be savvy with it. How can I get the best out of my money?” Basically that’s saying how can you stretch it and get the most for every dollar you spend. Whichever category you fall into, here is a great resource to help you get the most out of your money as you spend this time of year. Oh and it’s free.
Before I go any further let me tell you. Some of the links below are affiliate links, but I only promote what I was going to recommend anyway, things I believe will help you. Anything I recommend, I do because I honestly believe it will help you and have likely recommended it to my own family as well.
Ok, so a lot of people use credit cards either because they can’t afford to pay the full price for the item they want or they really want the rewards associated with the product. However, you don’t have to use a credit card in order to get rewards and cash back. You can get those using your regular bank card.
You’re already spending your money to buy gifts and things that you need for a bargain, so if you can get rewards for it why not.
Alright, so what am I talking about? Ebates.com. This site allows you to get cash back on purchases from a number of common stores. Don’t ask me why I hadn’t already signed up and been using the site. I finally joined not too long ago. I was surprised how much cash back you actually get. It’s not just 1-2%. I saw up to 25% cash back for some stores, but the vast majority are 10% and under.
I tested it out by buying a website domain on GoDaddy, since I was buying the domain anyway, and I got 9% cash back. Score! There is an Ebates button you can add to your internet browser. The button alerts you when it’s a site where you can get cash back and you just click the alert. After making your purchase you can log into Ebates and see the amount of cash back you earned in your account.
I could kick myself thinking about the online shopping I already did and the money I missed out on by not using Ebates.com. So if you do shopping online and would like to get rewards and cash back without using credit cards then check out Ebates.com. This is a great way to get the most out of the money that you’re already spending.
Make a plan as to what you will do with the cash back you earn. This would be great “unexpected” money to put towards financial goals. You could put the money in savings. You could add this money to payments for any debt you have. Think about what you would like to do with the money and when it would be ok to spend it.
I haven’t encountered any disadvantages with the site, but if I do then I’ll be sure to update this post.
